SelectiveMutism SpeakingOut CIC

We are motivated by the needs of our Selective Mutism community.

Our vision is to be ‘seen’, ‘understood’ and ‘heard’ by people working in healthcare, education and employment.

Our coproduction journey

  • We started

In 2016, SM TalkingCircles peer support group for adults living with Selective Mutism was set up in my front room. We soon grew and moved to a church hall. During Covid we moved online. New members joined us and we suddenly became national and international.

  • We codesigned

From the needs shared by our members we codesigned a template to support members to disclose SM and a guide to understanding SM for healthcare, education and employment providers.

  • We're doing

Selective Mutism Speaking Out CIC emerged from our aim to coproduce in partnership new solutions for SM community to find equitable access to healthcare, education and employment.
